Colleen graduated from Carleton University with a BA in Geography and Anthropology, then continued on to complete a graduate certificate in GIS at Algonquin College. She worked for two years in the environmental engineering sector before returning to school to pursue a Master's in Integrated Water Resource Management at McGill. During this time Colleen focused her research on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus and how this manner of thinking can be utilized for holistic sustainable development. A nexus approach to resource management has the potential to decrease or prevent unnecessary trade-offs so that the most beneficial and sustainable results can be realized. Colleen is currently researching how the nexus approach can help to achieve the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Steven graduated from environmental science at Concordia University where he developed an interest in environmental management, specifically water resource management. Since then he pursued his interests at McGill University and joined the Integrated Water Resource Management Master’s program in the Bioresource Engineering department. The program fine-tuned his knowledge of stakeholder relations and transboundary water management. Steven began researching novel methods to bring transboundary stakeholders together. Since then he has gone on to facilitate several simulation gaming events using the serious game AquaRepublica. Steven believes that by thinking outside of the box we can bring stakeholders together over boundaries allowing for a more cohesive approach to transboundary water management.
